List of Submissions on IT Ministry’s AI Governance Guidelines
The IT Ministry has received a list of submissions on AI Governance Guidelines. These submissions are from various public sectors and organizations. Some organizations have chosen to publicly share their submissions via MediaNama. The aim of these submissions is to guide the use of artificial intelligence in various sectors. This initiative by the IT Ministry is a significant step towards AI governance.

Submission Deadline for MeitY's AI Governance Guidelines Report
On February 27, 2025, the last date to submit comments on the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology’s (MeitY) report on the development of AI Governance guidelines was observed. Under the IndiaAI Mission, a multi-stakeholder Advisory Group, chaired by the Principal Scientific Advisor of India and representatives from relevant ministries, was constituted to develop an 'AI for India-Specific Regulatory Framework'. A subcommittee on 'AI Governance and Guidelines Development' was then formed under the Advisory Group to outline “actionable recommendations” for AI governance in India. The report in question was published by this subcommittee.
India's Stance on AI Regulation
This comes amidst a series of statements made by IT Ministry officials over the last year on India’s stance on AI regulation, fluctuating between heavy and light touch regulation. The Ministry also clarified that it does not plan to follow in the footsteps of the EU on AI regulation.
Public Publication of Comments Received
So far, the government has failed to mention whether it will publicly publish the comments it received during its consultation on the report. MediaNama is compiling a list of submissions that are either already public or organisations have chosen to make public via MediaNama. In case you wish to share your submission, please send an email to nikhil@medianama.com stating that you would like to add your submission to the list.
