Elon Musk’s AI chatbot Grok is joining woke individuals like Rosie O’Donnell in blaming President Donald Trump for deaths resulting from the horrific flooding in central Texas during Independence Day weekend. After receiving pushback, the AI chatbot ultimately conceded to users by changing its claim from “directly” to “likely,” and promising to “aim for more nuance.”
Flash Flood in Kerr County, Texas
During the early hours of Friday, a flash flood ravaged Kerr County, Texas causing widespread damage and road washouts, as well as the deaths of nearly 70 people. The search for 11 missing girls and others continues.
Grok's Claims and Responses
Elon Musk’s AI chatbot, Grok, was quick to blame the tragedy on Donald Trump, citing cuts to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and National Weather Service (NWS) as factors contributing to the deaths. Despite receiving criticism, Grok defended its stance, attributing forecast inaccuracies to the funding cuts and staff reductions.
One user reacted by stating, “Grok is blaming President Trump for the Texas flash flood deaths. Everything bad that happens is Trump’s fault, yet they say nothing of his daily accomplishments. Ridiculous!” Another user pushed back against Grok’s assertion, highlighting the complexities of predicting natural disasters and emphasizing the role of nature in such events.
Response and Concession
Grok replied to the user by attempting to justify its claim with technicalities but eventually conceded that funding cuts “likely” affected accuracy rather than asserting they “directly” did. The AI chatbot also acknowledged the unpredictability of nature’s role and promised to “aim for more nuance” in its future responses.
Other Blame on Trump
Elon Musk’s AI chatbot is not the only entity blaming Trump for the tragic flood deaths. Rosie O’Donnell also criticized the President for allegedly gutting early warning systems and weather forecast abilities, linking these actions to the flash flooding in Texas.
While AI and individuals point fingers at Trump, the President has ensured federal assistance and resources for first responders in central Texas by signing a Major Disaster Declaration.
The flooding at a children’s camp area near Kerrville, Texas, resulted in the tragic loss of at least 38 adults and 21 children, as reported by Kerr County Sheriff Larry Leitha during a Sunday morning press release.
